Snails are a fun toy for children, but as soon as they accidentally drop them and leave them on the carpet, the fun stops. You don’t have to take off the robe! We’ll show you how to remove mucus from carpets in a few simple steps without leaving traces or damage.

How to remove mucus from carpets: Acetic acid solution

Washable glue is the most common drool-based product. They are non-toxic and safe for children. However, if they stick to the carpet and dry, removing them can be a real challenge.

But for drooling that isn’t completely dry, it doesn’t take a genius to get it out of the carpet. The average person can do it in less than an hour or so. However, this should not be done by children, as some solutions contain harmful chemicals.

Basic method

Here are the materials to be removed:

  • Vinegar
  • Hot water
  • OxiClean
  • Spoons
  • Soft brush
  • Paper napkin

Steps

Vinegar is cheap and easy to use for this task. It is easily accessible in the kitchens of the house. Many homeowners prefer this method of removing mucus from the carpet because it is safe and easy.

  1.  Perform a stain test on the carpet to determine if it causes discoloration. If that is the case, look for other alternatives.
  2.  Mix 1/3 glass of hot water with 2/3 glass of vinegar. Pour into a siphon for easy application.
  3.  Spray the solution on the droplet.
  4.  Soak the solution in the carpet. It should start by dissolving the mucus.
  5.  Use a soft brush to remove mucus from the carpet.
  6.  Try to get the most out of it. Wipe it to the side, not down, so that no mucus penetrates further into the carpet.
  7.  If there’s not much left between the fibers, repeat the process.
  8.  If the mucus leaves a discoloration on the carpet, use OxiClean. This liquid solution removes the stain from the carpet.
  9.  If the carpet is dry, vacuum if necessary.

Alternative method

There is another easy way to remove mucus while it is still liquid. It is preferable to have the followingmaterials andsolutions available before completing the task:

  • Spoons
  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Brushes
  • Paper napkins
  • Dishwasher soap
  • French brandy
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Steps

To carry out this method, there is a step-by-step procedure:

  1.  Use a spoon to scrape off the liquid mucus. Do not scratch too hard to prevent the carpet from being damaged or mucus from getting into the carpet fibres.
  2.  Empty the spoon with a paper towel.
  3.  Pour the vinegar directly onto the mucus.
  4.  Apply a brush and scrub to remove any residual mucus.
  5.  Once the mucus is removed, the carpet may show signs of discoloration or staining. Pour hot water over the painted area. Do not pour too much water, as this can seep into the thicker layer of the carpet.
  6.  If you use a lot of paper towels, dry the carpet well.
  7.  If mucus is still present, mix a solution of aqueous vinegar and rinse soap in a siphon.
  8.  Spray the spray solution onto the painted surface.
  9.  Treat the area with a piece of tissue.
  10. If the stain cannot be removed, apply a small amount of cleaning alcohol with water. Do not use too much liquid as it can penetrate deeper into the carpet.
  11.   If a stain is still present, apply one or more drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide.
  12. Check the stains before using this solution as it may stain or discolour the carpet.
  13. Soak for 15 minutes and rinse with water.
  14. Leave to dry and vacuum.

How to remove mucus from carpets: Ice solution

It is recommended to clean the carpet immediately from mucus. However, there are many cases where you don’t notice it just before it is completely dry. Dry mucus is more difficult to remove from the carpet. Try the following ice solution to make the work easier.

This method requires only a little ice and a little patience. These are the steps you need to take:

  1.  Apply ice to the tip of the mucus.
  2.  Avoid pushing the mucus into the carpet.
  3.  Let the ice rest on the mucus for 10 minutes or until it freezes.
  4.  Take or remove the frozen mucus from the carpet.
  5.  Once you’ve removed the mucus, there may still be a few stains left. So apply the vinegar method above to remove the rest of the unwanted element.

How to make natural detergents: Alternatives

In addition to the above solutions, some natural cleaning agents can be tried as alternatives. Make sure that no solution damages the carpet.

Sodium bicarbonate solution for washing and laundry

  • A tablespoon of bicarbonate of baking soda
  • A tablespoon of detergent
  • Approximately 300 ml hot water
  • Approximately 70 ml vinegar

Mix all ingredients and spray on the painted surface. Leave to dry and vacuum.

Alcoholic Vinegar Solution

  • 1/3 of the alcohol vinegar
  • 2/3 of the water

Mix the ingredients together. Soak the towel in the solution and use it to wipe the stain, then lay the towel over the stain and quickly brush with a lightly heated iron. We know that vinegar and water will absorb the stain.

Soapy dishwasher detergent flour

  • Three tablespoons of grated dish soap…
  • 250 grams starch flour

Mix the ingredients together. Wipe it on the carpet for a few minutes, then vacuum to remove the debris.

Apple vinegar Solution

  • Three deciliters of cider vinegar.
  • seven decilitres lemon juice
  • drops of essential oil
  • ½ litre of water
  • A tablespoon of bicarbonate of baking soda

Mix the ingredients well in a bowl. Mix and dip the brush into the product, then carefully clean the stain. This decision does not produce foam. After drying, vacuum the area.
